corrosion - pre-installation requirements

The laboratory shall be prepared to accommodate the Salt Spraying Cabinet once it is ordered. A lot of trouble can be avoided when all supplies are installed and functioning properly, before the cabinet arrives.

The entrance (door or window) to the laboratory.

Make sure that the dimensions of the door or windows allow the cabinet to pass. The smallest size of the cabinet is its height.

However, it is a must to mention on ordering that the cabinet has to be tilt 90° during transportation. The test chamber and the carrying construction must be tightened together before shipment, in order not to damage the system irrecoverably during tilting.

The electrical supply

Install an electrical outlet, providing the necessary power and a good ground connection.

The compressed air supply

Provide a connection (a stopcock) to the compressed air circuit.

The pressure and consumption of the compressed air depend on the volume of the chamber.

Air must be free from oil, dust and water.

The water supply

  • If the plant has its own demineralised water circuit, it has to be checked that the requirements for pressure and conductivity are met.
  • In case of absence of a demineralised water circuit a demineralizer has to be acquired. Be sure the water circuit can supply the pressure needed.

The vent and drain

  • The drain (for the condensed fog) has to be such that the connecting tube between the exhaust of the cabinet and the drain allows the precipitated fog to be evacuated continuously, without the possibility of building a counter pressure. In other words avoid any bend necessary in the connection, that could act as a siphon.
  • It is necessary to have the vent and the drain connected to the exhaust of the cabinet in a closed system. Otherwise non-precipitated fog could enter the test laboratory causing corrosion everywhere.
